ASHLAND, Ohio - The Gannon wrestling team competed in the Ashland Open Saturday, November 15.
Chris Santucci (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) finished second in the 133-pound weight class, as four Golden Knights placed.
Over 300 athletes wrestled in the event, which featured a number of Division I programs such as Ohio State, Michigan, Buffalo, and Eastern Michigan. No team scores were kept.
Santucci won his first four matches on his way to the finals before falling in his last contest. The runner-up position is Santucci’s best finish at Gannon.
Brandon Monin (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) took fifth place in the 157-pound class. He went 5-2 on the day.
141-pounder
A.J. Milanak (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) placed sixth in his bracket. The sophomore went 3-3 at the event.
Jacob Tazzi (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay) also finished sixth. He went 2-2 in the 197-pound class.
The Golden Knights now have three weeks off before they compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships Saturday, December 6.
