Gannon Men's Golf Team Finishes Seventh at 2009 PSAC Championships

HERSHEY, Pa. - The Gannon men’s golf team finished seventh at the 2009 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship hosted by the Hershey Link Country Club Sunday afternoon.

Indiana (Pa.) won the team title with two-round total of 592. The Crimson Hawks posted the top two rounds of the tournament, shooting rounds of 298 and 294. California (Pa.) (302-313-615), Millersville (313-302-615), Clarion (302-314-616) and West Chester (325-305-630) rounded out the top five.
Gannon placed seventh with a two-round score of 644, recording a pair of 322s.

Drew Deimel (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) was Gannon’s top golfer, finishing tied for fourth place with a score of 151. The junior shot rounds of 77 and 74. Derek Aicher (T21st, 80-78-158), Dom Lombardi (T27th, 83-81-164), Rob Hersch (33rd, 82-89-171) and Corey Bowers (35th, 91-95-186) completed Gannon’s five-member team.

The 2009 PSAC Championship concludes Gannon’s fall campaign.

Kara Cullen
Women's Volleyball

Kara Cullen helped the Gannon volleyball team post a 2-1 start last season at the Davis & Elkins tournament. The Lady Knights defeated Davis & Elkins and Texas A&M Kingsville. The junior middle blocker had 25 kills without an attacking error during the two victories. Against Davis & Elkins, she had 12 kills in 16 touches. For the week, Cullen averaged 3.30 kills and 1.40 blocks per set. She recorded 33 of the teams 121 kills, leading the team in blocking (14 total blocks, 4 solo blocks). Cullen produced a .433 hitting percentage during the weekend tournament.

Zach Boedicker
Football
Boedicker led the Gannon football team to a fifth consecutive victory dating back to last season with a 26-20 win over Lake Erie in the season opener last Thursday. The senior quarterback accounted for 83 percent of Gannon’s offense, producing 287 yards of total offense. He recorded his fourth career 100-yard rushing game, running for 109 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries. Only two quarterbacks in school history have recorded more 100-yard rushing performances. Through the air, Boedicker threw only six incomplete passes in 23 attempts, as well as having no turnovers. Trailing 14-13 early in the fourth quarter, Boedicker had one-yard touchdown runs on back-to-back drives to push Gannon in front 26-14. He moved into Gannon’s all-time top five in passing during the opener, finishing the game with 2,413 career passing yards.
