SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Gannon cross country teams posted a pair of top-seven finishes Saturday afternoon at the Slippery Rock Invitational hosted by Coopers Lake Campground. The women’s team placed fifth out of nine teams while the men’s squad finished seventh out of eight teams.
Slippery Rock won the women’s team title with 36 points. Penn State (70), Wayne State (83), Mercyhurst (114), and Gannon (129) completed the top five.
Brittany Zaborowski (Mars, Pa./Mars Area) was Gannon’s top female runner, finishing the 6K race in 20th place with a time of 25 minutes and 6.2 seconds.

Kathleen Driving Hawk (40th, 26:10.4),
Jenna Szczepanski (47th, 26:39.2),

Jacque Huff (65th, 28:00.4), and
Christina Estes (73rd, 28:29.3) also competed for the Lady Knights.
Wayne State captured the men’s team title with 28 points. Slippery Rock (45), Penn State (69), Mercyhurst (116), and Westminster (153) rounded out the top five. Gannon finished seventh with 185 points.
C.J. Kennett (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) was Gannon’s top male runner, finishing the 8K race in 30th place with a time of 28 minutes and 48.7 seconds.

Christopher Cuviello (83rd, 33:38.8) also competed for the Golden Knights.
Both Gannon cross country teams return to action Saturday, October 17 when they co-host the Gannon/Mercyhurst Invitational at Pleasant Ridge Park in Fairview, Pa. The meet is scheduled for 11 a.m.
