Lady Knight Swimming and Diving Wins at Canisius Saturday Afternoon

BUFFALO, N.Y.- The Gannon women’s swimming and diving team won at Division I Canisius Saturday afternoon, beating the Griffins 151-91. The men lost 137.5-88.5 at the meet. 

On the women’s side, the 200 yard medley relay and 400 freestyle relay were winners for Gannon. The 400 free team of Sarah Anderson (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell), Jackie Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell), and Kaitlyn Bosy (Courtice, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary) combined to win by over 15 seconds. Sam Bluhm (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) took first in the 200 and 500 freestyle events, Jackie Rzymek won the 100 butterfly, and Rachel Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) touched the wall first in the 50 free. Megan Beresford (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) won both diving contests, scoring a 216.45 in the one-meter and 248.33 in the three-meter dive. 

For the men, Greg Nelson (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) placed first in the 100 yard freestyle, Mitchel Meighen (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) won the 200 individual medley with a come-from-behind effort, and the 200 medley relay team swam to a first place tie. Kyle Lazenby (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Meighen, Ethan Chase (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), and Jason Jamieson (Cape Town, South Africa/Rondebosch) teamed up to tie Canisius with a time of 1:41.65 seconds. 

The Knights will host California (Pa.) Saturday, November 7. The meet is set for a 1 p.m. start at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion.

Greg Radwan
Baseball
Radwan earned two of the Gannon baseball team's four victories last weekend in Winter Haven, Florida. The senior righthander went 2-0 with a 1.93 earned run average in two starts. He allowed only three earned runs while tossing two complete games. Radwan struck out 17 compared to only four walks. The Farnham, N.Y., native limited the opposition to a .226 average. He was even tougher in clutch situations, limited hitters to a .154 (4-26) average with runners on base. Radwan began the week with an 8-1 victory over Hillsdale, striking out 10 and walking two. During a victory against Findlay, he allowed two earned runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking two.
Tiffany Crocker
Women's Basketball
Crocker led the No. 1 Gannon women's basketball team to its first-ever Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship last weekend at the Hammermill Center. The Lady Knights won the tournament with victories over Edinboro (81-67), Kutztown (81-65) and California (Pa.) (77-68). Crocker was named PSAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after averaging 15.7 points, 7.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals in three games. She scored a career-high 27 points against Cal in the PSAC title game, including 22 in the second half. Crocker narrowly missed her second career double-double with nine assists. The Dublin, Ohio native was 7-of-11 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point range and 10-of-10 from the free throw line. She began the week with 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists against Edinboro in the quarterfinals. Crocker had four points, seven rebounds and seven assists against Kutztown in the semifinals. In all, she dished out 22 assists compared to 10 turnovers in 114 minutes during the tourney.
