Gannon Women's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale at Slippery Rock Saturday

ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women’s soccer team lost 2-1 at Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon on the final day of the regular season. The Rock rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to win its last match of the year. 

Breanne Radin (Lockwood, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) opened the scoring with a goal at the 7:21 mark, beating Rock goalkeeper Sarah Lacy on the right side. SRU responded quickly, tying the match 25 seconds later on a Julianna Howell goal. Emer Flatley gave the Rock a 2-1 edge in the 20th minute and neither team scored again. 

The home team outshot GU 19-5, including 11-2 in the first half. The Rock compiled six corner kicks to just two for the Knights. Sabrina Chirco (Brampton, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) recorded 11 saves in net for Gannon. 

GU finishes the regular season with an overall record of 10-6-1 and 8-5-1 in the conference. The Rock is 10-5-3 overall and 6-5-3 in the league. 

The Knights will now travel to California (Pa.) for a first round Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament match Tuesday, November 3 at a time to be announced. The Vulcans, regular season Western Division champions, and Knights split two meetings in 2009. Cal won at home 3-1 September 8 and Gannon won 2-1 October 20 in Erie.

Tiffany Crocker
Women's Basketball
Crocker led the No. 1 Gannon women's basketball team to its first-ever Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship last weekend at the Hammermill Center. The Lady Knights won the tournament with victories over Edinboro (81-67), Kutztown (81-65) and California (Pa.) (77-68). Crocker was named PSAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after averaging 15.7 points, 7.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals in three games. She scored a career-high 27 points against Cal in the PSAC title game, including 22 in the second half. Crocker narrowly missed her second career double-double with nine assists. The Dublin, Ohio native was 7-of-11 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point range and 10-of-10 from the free throw line. She began the week with 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists against Edinboro in the quarterfinals. Crocker had four points, seven rebounds and seven assists against Kutztown in the semifinals. In all, she dished out 22 assists compared to 10 turnovers in 114 minutes during the tourney.
Greg Radwan
Baseball
Radwan earned two of the Gannon baseball team's four victories last weekend in Winter Haven, Florida. The senior righthander went 2-0 with a 1.93 earned run average in two starts. He allowed only three earned runs while tossing two complete games. Radwan struck out 17 compared to only four walks. The Farnham, N.Y., native limited the opposition to a .226 average. He was even tougher in clutch situations, limited hitters to a .154 (4-26) average with runners on base. Radwan began the week with an 8-1 victory over Hillsdale, striking out 10 and walking two. During a victory against Findlay, he allowed two earned runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking two.
