Gannon Women's Golf Team Wins Own Invitational at Lake Shore Country Club

Head coach Jason Willow and the Gannon women's golf team won its first event of the season this weekend at Lake Shore Country Club.
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women's golf team led from start to finish and won its seven-team Fall Invitational hosted this weekend at the Lake Shore Country Club.

Gannon won the team title with a two-day total of 671, shooting rounds of 335 and 336. Clarion (337-342-679), Wheeling Jesuit (352-335-687), Mercyhurst (347-356-703), and West Chester (369-373-742) completed the top five.

Clarion's Jenna Rinker captured the individual title with a two-day score of 157, posting rounds of 80 and 77. She overcame a five-stroke deficit on the final day.

Kelly Nickerson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) was Gannon's top golfer, finishing third with a two-day total of 164. The sophomore shot an 80 during Saturday's first round and an 84 during Sunday's final round.

Allyssa Ferriell (6th, 84-83-167), Emily Quinn (8th, 82-90-172), Amanda Eckhart (T9th, 91-82-173), Rhiannon Ray (T21st, 89-97-186), and Katie Lyons (T21st, 99-87-186) completed Gannon's six-member team.

Gannon returns to action Thursday, October 8 at the Allegheny Invitational.
