Gannon Men's Golf Team Finishes 12th at Vulcan Invitational

CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Gannon men’s golf team finished 12th out of 13 teams Monday afternoon at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California (Pa.) at the Cedarbrook Golf Course.

Indiana (Pa.) won the team title with a two-day total of 581. The Crimson Hawks led from start to finish with a 283 on Sunday and 298 on Monday. California (Pa.) (297-303-600), Clarion (294-310-604), Washington & Jefferson (301-309-610), and McDaniel College (299-316-615) completed the top five.

Gannon placed 12th with a two-round score of 627. The Golden Knights posted a 308 during Sunday’s first round and fired a 319 during Monday’s final 18 holes.

Drew Deimel (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) was Gannon’s top golfer, tying for 12th place with a two-day total of 149. The junior was tied for sixth place after a career-low 71 on Sunday, but fell to 12th with a 78 on Monday.

Rob Hersch (T34th, 79-76-155), Derek Aicher (T53rd, 80-81-161), Jason Ramus (T58th, 78-84-162), Dom Lombardi (T65th, 81-85-166), and Jake Scott (74th, 86-93-179) rounded out Gannon’s six-member team.

Gannon returns to action Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11 at the Mercyhurst Invitational. Downing Golf Course will serve as the host course. The Golden Knights then host the Gannon Fall Invitational Monday, October 12 at Lake Shore Country Club.

Tiffany Crocker
Women's Basketball
Crocker led the No. 1 Gannon women's basketball team to its first-ever Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship last weekend at the Hammermill Center. The Lady Knights won the tournament with victories over Edinboro (81-67), Kutztown (81-65) and California (Pa.) (77-68). Crocker was named PSAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after averaging 15.7 points, 7.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals in three games. She scored a career-high 27 points against Cal in the PSAC title game, including 22 in the second half. Crocker narrowly missed her second career double-double with nine assists. The Dublin, Ohio native was 7-of-11 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point range and 10-of-10 from the free throw line. She began the week with 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists against Edinboro in the quarterfinals. Crocker had four points, seven rebounds and seven assists against Kutztown in the semifinals. In all, she dished out 22 assists compared to 10 turnovers in 114 minutes during the tourney.
Greg Radwan
Baseball
Radwan earned two of the Gannon baseball team's four victories last weekend in Winter Haven, Florida. The senior righthander went 2-0 with a 1.93 earned run average in two starts. He allowed only three earned runs while tossing two complete games. Radwan struck out 17 compared to only four walks. The Farnham, N.Y., native limited the opposition to a .226 average. He was even tougher in clutch situations, limited hitters to a .154 (4-26) average with runners on base. Radwan began the week with an 8-1 victory over Hillsdale, striking out 10 and walking two. During a victory against Findlay, he allowed two earned runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking two.
