ERIE, Pa. - Gannon’s John Krakowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s Swimmer of the Week.

Krakowski helped Gannon win three of four dual meets last week while also missing an NCAA ‘B’ time in the 50 freestyle by a few hundredths of a second.

At a Quad Meet with John Carroll, Notre Dame (Ohio) and Cleveland State, Krakowski was the anchor on the 200 medley relay team which took second. In addition, he took second in the 50 freestyle (21.97) and also anchored the 200 freestyle relay team which placed third. The Erie, Pa., native was the top NCAA Division II finisher in the 50 freestyle. His 200 medley relay team also recorded the top Division II time in its event.

Krakowski shaved .6 second off his 50 freestyle time at the Quad Meet while winning the event (21.37) during a dual victory against Allegheny last Friday. The time broke the school record and was just .06 second short of an NCAA ‘B’ time. He also anchored the 200 freestyle relay team that posted a come-from-behind victory and swam on the 200 medley relay team that finished second.

Gannon (3-3) returns to action December 3-5 at the Mid-Season Invitational in Wooster, Ohio.
