ERIE, Pa. - Gannon’s Kyle Goldcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) has been named to 2009-10 Erie Bayhawks’ training camp roster released this week. The Bayhawks are a member of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Developmental League (D-League), which is the NBA’s official minor league and features 16 teams with direct affiliations to NBA teams.

Eighty-four former NBA Developmental League players were on 2008-09 NBA end-of-season rosters, amounting to almost 20 percent of NBA players, and the league continues to develop coaches, referees, and front office staff for the NBA and its teams.

The Erie Bayhawks’ training camp is slated to begin November 14. The training camp roster will include 15 players, including eight selected during the NBA Developmental League Draft scheduled for Thursday, November 5.

The non-draft invitees include four returning players, Goldcamp and two other newcomers. The Bayhawks will reduce the roster to 10 players for the regular season.

Goldcamp was nothing short of spectacular on and off the court during his collegiate career, producing a 3.87 cumulative grade-point average. The Pre-Med major was Gannon’s leading scorer (18.9) and rebounder (9.3) last season. The 6’10” forward was among the PSAC and national leaders in numerous categories prior to missing 11 games due to an injury. He was not eligible to be ranked among the statistical leaders at the end of the season because only players who played in 75 percent of their team’s games can be listed.

The Pittsburgh, Pa., native reached double digits in scoring during all 23 games he played in during the 2008-09 season and the last 28 contests dating back to the 2007-08 campaign. Goldcamp finished his career second all-time at Gannon in field goal percentage (.626), fourth in blocked shots (115), sixth in scoring average (16.7) and 33rd in scoring (904). He recorded 13 double-doubles in two seasons at Gannon.

Goldcamp was named to the Daktronics and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) all-region second teams last season. Goldcamp was named to the Street and Smith’s All-America honorable-mention squad and the All-PSAC Western Division team during the preseason, but was not eligible for PSAC post-season awards because he did not play in 66 percent of Gannon’s regular-season games. In addition, he was named NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Most Valuable Player.
