ERIE, Pa. - Gannon's
Randy Colling (Arcade, N.Y./Pioneer) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Defensive Football Player of the Week.
Colling helped Gannon upset 19th-ranked Bloomsburg 10-7 in overtime last Saturday. The sophomore defensive lineman recorded a career-high nine tackles, guiding a defense that ended the season by allowing only 10 points in the final three games.
More importantly, Colling blocked a possible game-winning field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter. After Gannon took a 10-7 lead in overtime, he then forced a game-ending fumble when he hit Bloomsburg quarterback Dan Latorre on the Huskies first play in overtime.
Gannon concluded its first winning season since 2003 with four consecutive victories and a 6-5 record. Saturday's victory was the program's first-ever win against a nationally-ranked opponent.
