FREDONIA, N.Y. - The Gannon swimming and diving team won an unusual meet over Fredonia State Friday. The men took a 134-103 decision and the women won 155-88 over the Devils. Due to inclement weather, each team swam at their own school. The Gannon swimming and diving teams completed their events at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion while Fredonia State competed in theirs at the SUNY Fredonia Natatorium. The scores were then compared to produce final results.

For the Lady Knights, Kaitlyn Bosy (Courtice, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary) won the 100 breaststroke and the 100 and 500 free races. The 400 yard medley relay team won with a 4:20.63 time. Sarah Lawton (Franklin, Pa./Franklin), Colleen Harriger (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Elizabeth Morse (Pendleton, N.Y./Starpoint Central), and Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) combined for the victory. Sam Bluhm (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) took first in the 1000 free and Rachel Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) won gold in the 50 freestyle race. Harriger touched the wall first in the 200 IM and Lawton won the 100 backstroke. The 400 free relay team also won. Diana Rocco (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) totaled a 247.95 while winning the one-meter dive and then won gold in the three-meter competition with a 255.60 score.

The men’s 400 yard medley relay and 400 free relay teams each took home a victory. Greg Evanoff (McKean, Pa./General McLane) took first in the 200 free and Jason Jamieson (Cape Town, South Africa/Rondebosch) won the 50 free and 100 butterfly. Philip Myrick (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) swam the 100 free in 50.63 seconds, taking gold for the Knights. Michael Piper (Houston, Texas/Clear Lake) won the 100 backstroke, while Josh Marzilli (Riverview, Fla./East Bay) touched first in the 500 yard freestyle race.
