ERIE, Pa. - Gannon head women’s golf coach Jason Willow has announced the addition of Kiersten Klekner-Alt (Ottawa, Ontario/Ecole Secondaire Publique Louis-Riel) and Amanda Teodorsson (Savedalen, Sweden/Porthalla) to the program Friday morning. Both student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent during the NCAA’s early signing period.
“We are extremely pleased that Kiersten and Amanda have chosen Gannon to continue their academic and athletic careers,” said Willow. “Both players received national interest from dozens of colleges and universities across all levels of the NCAA. Both are well-balanced, athletic players with superb golf swings and a history of success against national competition.”
Klekner-Alt is a five-time Franco champion and two-time National Capital Secondary Schools Athletic Association (NCSSAA) champion. She was named team MVP as a sophomore and junior. The Ottawa, Ontario native finished in the top 28 during four consecutive Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) championships, including a 21st-place finish this fall. A nationally-ranked junior alpine ski racer, Klekner-Alt also won the 2008 Mayor’s Cup championship.
Teodorsson has played on the Skandia and JMI tours. She posted a victory on the 2008 Skandia Amateur Tour while winning a Junior Master and Bohusbanken Master. The Sweden native finished second at the 2009 Gothenburg Master. Her best score was a 71 at the Grappas Junior Master. Teodorsson has also played five years for the Oijared Golf Club.
“Kiersten and Amanda embody what Gannon University athletics represent,” noted Willow. “Both are exceptional young women who have experienced a great deal of success in the classroom and on the course.
“Both student-athletes will help us continue the success we obtained in the fall and help us build a foundation to compete for conference, regional and national recognition on a regular basis.”
