Basketball Gameday Program Tabbed Best in the Country

ERIE, Pa. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have declared the 2008-09 Gannon basketball gameday program and its cover “Best in the Nation” among NCAA Division II institutions.

In addition, two other 2008-09 publications earned national honors. The 2008 Gannon football gameday program was tabbed third in the nation while the 2008-09 Gannon women’s basketball media guide was rated fifth in the country. The 2008 football media guide finished 23rd among NCAA Division II schools, but did not finish high enough to receive an award.

Gannon’s basketball gameday program has been judged best in the nation four times in the last five years. No honors were awarded during the 2007-08 season because not enough entries were submitted.

Only football and basketball (women and men) media guides were printed in 2008-09 due to restructuring within the Gannon Sports Information Office. In the process, all media guide information was moved to Gannon’s Web site www.gannonsports.com.

The change in publication production brought an end to the streak of back-to-back “best in the nation” awards for the men’s soccer media guide, which earned the nation’s top honor three times in the previous five years.

Gannon has received 29 national awards, 12 “best in the nation” honors, and numerous regional awards since 1999. A complete list of Gannon’s 2008-09 national publication rankings can be found below.
