ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women’s golf team improved two spots during the final round and finished second out of eight teams Sunday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Invitational hosted by the Downing Golf Course.
Allegheny won the team title, leading from start to finish. The Gators won the event with a two-day total of 621, producing rounds of 317 and 304. Gannon (339-323-662), Clarion (332-330-662), Kutztown (333-331-664), and Mercyhurst (343-340-683) rounded out the top five.
Kelly Nickerson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) was Gannon’s top golfer, finishing eighth with a two-day total of 160. The sophomore shot a pair of 80s during the weekend.
Amanda Eckhart (16th, 84-82-166), Rhiannan Ray (T17th, 87-81-168),
Emily Quinn (T17th, 88-80-168),
Allyssa Ferriell (26th, 90-87-177), and
Katie Lyons (T35th, 94-96-190) completed Gannon’s six-member team.
The Gannon women’s golf team returns to action Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27 at the Clarion Invitational.
