CLARION, Pa. - The Gannon women’s golf team finished third out of 11 teams Sunday afternoon at the rain-shortened Clarion Invitational hosted by the Clarion Oaks Golf Club.
Clarion won the team title with a 493 over 27 holes. The tournament was shortened to 27 holes because rain forced officials to suspend play Saturday afternoon. West Liberty State (499), Gannon (500), Kutztown (509), and Wheeling Jesuit (526) completed the top five.
East Stroudsburg’s Karen Cash captured the individual title with a 117.
Kelly Nickerson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) was Gannon’s top golfer, finishing tied for third place with a 120. The sophomore shot a career-best 79 during Sunday’s 18 holes.
Allyssa Ferriell (81) and
Katie Lyons (89) also recorded career 18-hole lows during Sunday’s action. Clarion was unable to provide complete individual scores and finishes as of Sunday night.
Gannon returns to action Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4 by hosting the Gannon Invitational at Lake Shore Country Club.
