ERIE, Pa. - The eighth-ranked Gannon wrestling team beat Shippensburg 29-12 Friday at the Hammermill Center.
Corey Bowers (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) recorded a pinfall in his 133-pound victory.
John Fleming (Bethel Park, Pa./Lakeview) started the night with a 19-2 technical fall over Justin Morris. Bowers followed with a pin at the 3:53 mark over Simon Rice to put the Golden Knights ahead 11-0.
A.J. Milanak (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) won a 9-7 decision over Tom Wiechelt in their 141-pound match and then
Kevin McElhaney (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown Area) picked up a forfeit win to give GU a 20-0 edge.
Zack McKendree (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) took a 7-1 decision in the 165-pound match and
Tony Petrella (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) won 3-1 in the 184-pound bout to clinch the dual victory for Gannon.
Jimmy Martz (Hookstown, Pa./Southside Beaver) closed the action with an 11-5 decision win in the heavyweight contest.
