Gannon's Furno Named PSAC Western Division Freshman of the Week for Third Time

Tanner Furno is becoming a regular pick for the PSAC Western Division Freshman of the Week award.
ERIE, Pa. - Gannon's Tanner Furno (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.

Furno averaged 12.5 points and three rebounds during a pair of one-point victories against Slippery Rock (54-53) and Clarion (66-65 in overtime) last week. The true freshman reached double digits in both games after accomplishing the feat only once in the first 20 contests. He shot 56.3 percent (9-16) from the field during the week.

The Columbus, Ohio native opened the week with 10 points and six rebounds off the bench against Slippery Rock, hitting 4-of-7 shots from the field. He initially gave Gannon a 53-51 lead by making two free throws with 26 seconds left, before Slippery Rock tied it 12 seconds later.

Furno ended the week with 15 points off the bench against Clarion, converting 5-of-9 field goal attempts and 5-of-7 free throws. He has averaged 3.8 points and two rebounds through 22 games this season.

Gannon (11-11, 6-4) returns to action tonight (February 15) against Lake Erie at the Hammermill Center.
