ERIE, Pa. - The fifth-ranked Gannon wrestling team will host Waynesburg College Wednesday, February 3, at the Hammermill Center. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
The Golden Knights are ranked fifth in the latest NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Top 20 poll. The ranking is the highest in program history. GU (4-3) stands fourth in the East regional rankings.
Frank McGrath (Hammonton, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) is fifth in the individual rankings for the heavyweight division.
Corey Bowers (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) ranks fifth in the 133-pound class and
Zack McKendree (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) is seventh as a 157-pounder. McKendree has eight pins and McGrath is 16-2. Bowers is 21-3 overall this season.
Waynesburg, a Division III program, is 6-8 in dual action. The Yellow Jackets lost to West Liberty State 21-16 January 30. Gannon won at Waynesburg 33-12 last season.
