MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - The Gannon swimming teams closed action at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships Sunday. The Lady Knights finished sixth in the 13-team field and the men placed sixth out of seven teams. Cumberland Valley High School is the site of the meet.
Josh Marzilli (Riverview, Fla./East Bay) finished fourth in the 1650 yard freestyle, swimming a school-record 16:25.03 in the race.
Mitchel Meighen (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) swam a 2:08.69 in the 200 breaststroke, taking third place.
David Landry (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area),
John Krakowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep),
Greg Nelson (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor), and Marzilli teamed up to place seventh in the 400 free relay.
Kaitlyn Bosy (Courtice, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary) set a school record in the 100 free, placing fifth. She swam a 52.16 to qualify with a 'B' time for nationals. Jackie Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) took seventh in the 200 butterfly, swimming a school-record 2:08.19 to set a 'B' standard. The 400 yard free relay team of
Rachel Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell), Jackie Ryzmek, and Bosy finished fourth.
Sam Bluhm (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) set a school record in the 200 yard backstroke. She posted a 2:09.89 while placing 15th.
West Chester won both the men's and women's overall standings. The Ram women scored 756 points, beating out second-place Clarion. The Lady Knights totaled 299 team points. West Chester's men tallied 780 points, with Clarion taking runner-up honors. GU's men scored 285 markers.
Gannon next heads to Canton, Ohio, for the NCAA Division II Championships March 10-14.

Megan Beresford (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) and
Diana Rocco (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) have qualified for the meet.
