ERIE, Pa. - Gannon officials have announced that Wednesday's (February 24) home basketball doubleheader against rival Mercyhurst will be a “White Out.”
All fans are asked to wear white to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader while the Gannon Student Government Association (SGA) will be distributing a limited number of T-shirts to Gannon students at the door.
The No. 1-ranked Gannon women's basketball team kicks off the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 7:30 p.m. The men's team can clinch a PSAC Tournament spot with a victory combined with a California (Pa.) loss at Slippery Rock.
Fans will also want to stay in their seats at halftime when Gannon honors several members of the Athletics community. Longtime Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Philip Kelly will be honored after 12 years of loyalty and service to the Gannon Athletics Department. In addition, seven Gannon swimmers and divers who qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships March 10-14 and Gannon's 10 wrestlers who will be competing in the NCAA Division II East Regionals this weekend will be honored. Both teams are ranked in the top eight nationally.
Finally, Gannon students are reminded that a post-game party will be held for Gannon students only in the Yehl Room of the Waldron Center immediately following the doubleheader. Free wings, pop and prizes will be available. The post-game party is sponsored by KnightLIFE.
