Gannon's Furno Earns Third Consecutive PSAC Western Division Freshman of the Week Honor

Tanner Furno picked up his fifth PSAC West Freshman of the Week honor.
ERIE, Pa. - Gannon's Tanner Furno (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Freshman of the Week for the third consecutive week and fifth time this season.

Furno helped Gannon win two PSAC Western Division games during the final week of the regular season against Mercyhurst (71-59) and Lock Haven (61-48) . The true freshman averaged 12.5 points, six rebounds, one block and one steal during those two games. He shot 50 percent (5-10) from the field and 83.3 percent (5-6) from the free throw line.

The Columbus, Ohio native opened the week with 18 points and a season-high eight rebounds against Mercyhurst, hitting 7-of-11 shots from the field and 4-of-4 free throw attempts. It marked the sixth time he reached double digits in scoring this season and fifth time in the last six games. Furno ended the week with seven points, four rebounds and two blocks against Lock Haven.

Gannon (13-14, 8-6) begins post-season play Tuesday, March 2 at sixth-ranked Indiana (Pa.) in the PSAC Quarterfinals. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. The contest can be heard live on Jet Radio 1400 and via the Internet at http://www.gannon.edu/athletics/werg/knightsound.html.
