ERIE, Pa. - Gannon’s
Megan Dragon (Ashtabula, Ohio/Edgewood) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
Dragon won two of three decisions last week, posting a 1.00 earned run average and a 22.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The true freshman limited the opposition to a .224 average in 14 innings of work. She struck out 22 and walked only one in three appearances.
The Ashtabula, Ohio native posted back-to-back shutouts against Clarion and Slippery Rock, before the Rock scored against her during the second game of the doubleheader. The performances extended her shutout streak to three games. She had shut out Mercyhurst in her last outing the previous week.
Dragon tossed a three-hitter, struck out nine and walked none during a 10-0 victory against Clarion. Against Slippery Rock, she threw a six-hitter while striking out nine and walking one during a 1-0 win.
Dragon is 10-7 this season with a 2.20 ERA and 7.1 strikeout-to-walk (149-21) ratio. She has reached double digits in strikeouts six times this season.
Gannon (16-21, 2-12) concludes the regular season this afternoon (April 20) at Edinboro. The PSAC West doubleheader begins at 2:30 p.m.
