Gannon's McGrath Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic At-Large Team

Senior Frank McGrath landed a spot on the ESPN The Magazine Academic second team Thursday morning.
ERIE, Pa. - Gannon's Frank McGrath (Hammonton, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic College Division All-District II men's at-large second team released Thursday morning.

McGrath was one of 22 student-athletes honored with first- or second-team accolades. The senior heavyweight wrestler produced a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average as a management major. He finished 26-6 overall with 10 pins, while posting a 10-1 mark in dual matches.

The Hammonton, N.J., native finished second at 2010 NCAA Division II East Regional and seventh at 2010 NCAA Division II National Championship. A Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athlete, McGrath is a two-time All-American. He ranks fourth all-time at Gannon in career pins (31), fourth in dual winning percentage (.875), sixth in career winning percentage (.752) and eighth in career wins (88).

McGrath won 26 matches in 2009-10, the 24th-highest single-season total in school history. His .812 winning percentage this season was the 14th-highest single-season mark in school history while his 10 dual victories equaled the 17th-highest total in school history.

The 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II men's at-large teams were selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The at-large teams consist of all sports except football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, track and field, softball and cross country.

The District II College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA colleges and universities in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average and a starter or significant reserve on his team.
