ERIE, Pa. - Gannon’s Kolten Hoffman (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) is one of five male student-athletes listed among the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Spring Top 10 award winners released Wednesday afternoon.

The PSAC Top 10 Awards, which are selected by the PSAC’s sports information directors, recognize student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and in the area of competition. The PSAC Top 10 Awards are in their 13th season of existence, having been initiated in the 1997-98 academic year.

Hoffman owns a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in Mathematics. A two-time ESPN The Magazine All-District 2 first-team selection and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athlete, Hoffman led Gannon in average (.349), hits (44), doubles (11), RBI (26), total bases (61), slugging percentage (.484) and on-base percentage (.461).

The West Middlesex, Pa., native hit .338 (26-77) with runners on base and .364 (16-44) with runners in scoring position. Hoffman recorded 13 multiple-hit games and a team-high seven multiple-RBI games. He produced a seven-game hitting streak April 10-23. The junior first baseman hit .426 during the final 17 games, recording a hit in 14 of those contests.

The PSAC Top 10 Awards recognize 10 outstanding student-athletes, five male and five female, for each athletic season: fall, winter and spring. To be a candidate for the PSAC Top 10 Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials for their respective team. The spring sports eligible for consideration for the PSAC Spring Top 10 Awards are baseball, softball, women’s lacrosse, women’s and men’s tennis, women’s and men’s golf and women’s and men’s outdoor track and field.

All PSAC Top 10 Award winners from the entire academic year are eligible for the PSAC Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards, given to one male and one female candidate at the end of the academic year.
