CLYMER, N.Y. - The Gannon men's golf team moved up one spot during the second day of the Howard "Bud" Elwell Fall Classic, finishing tied for fifth place among the 13-team field with a team score of 618.
West Chester was the top team with a team score of 607. The Rams edged out a four-stroke victory over Indiana (Pa.) who shot 611 as a team. Allegheny and Mercyhurst tied for third place (616) while Clarion and Gannon tied for fifth place after shooting 618.
California (Pa.) was seventh (626) followed by Daemen (629), The Gannon B Team (647) and Notre Dame College (654) to round out the top 10 teams.
Patrick Fritz of Allegheny and Ross Pringle of Clarion tied for the individual championship after the pair shot identical rounds of 72 and 75 for a two-day total of 147.
Shyamal Nagindas (Aurora, Ontario / Dr. G.W. Williams) was Gannon's top finisher with with a two-day total of 151. He finished tied for seventh place after shooting rounds of 75 and 76. Jon Marson (Gothenburg, Sweden / Katrinelundsgymnasiet) was 11th (77-76-153) followed by Jason Ramus (T25th, 79-78-157), Sean Mahon (T33rd, 80-79-159) and Zac Bihler (T52nd, 78-88-166) to complete Gannon's scoring team.
Max Fairman (T21st, 79-77-156), Matt Ferrie (T38th, 82-78-160), Dom Lombardi (T46th, 76-88-164), Lucas Ciulla (T55th, 82-85-167) and Derek Aicher (T60th, 82-91-173) also competed as part of Gannon's B Team, helping them finish ninth in the field.
The Gannon men's golf team will next compete Sunday, October 2-3 at the California (Pa.) Invitational.
