ERIE, Pa. – Shippensburg won six of the 10 bouts Friday night at the Hammermill Center, earning bonus points in three of those to hand the Gannon wrestling team a 27-17 loss.

The Golden Knights opened the night on a high note when Matt Turek (Painesville, Ohio / Madison) recorded a 25-9 technical fall against Colton Keck. He picked up six takedowns and two nearfall points in the first period. The win improved Turek to 11-9 overall this season with a 7-4 mark in dual meets. 

Cody Myers gave Shippensburg a 6-5 lead after the 133 pound bout, recording a pin in at the 6:37 mark. The Raiders added decisions at 141 and 149 to take a 12-5 lead.

Sean Floor (Westbrookville, N.Y. / Port Jervis) ended the skid for Gannon with a 5-0 decision at 157 pounds. The redshirt junior added takedowns in the first and third periods and earned a riding time point to account for the win. 

With the score tied at two in the 165-pound bout, Neal Grudi of Shippensburg was able to record a pin 1:57 into the match to extend the Raiders lead 18-11. 

Keith Stoerr (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster) faced a 2-0 deficit in the 174-pound bout, but was able to record a reversal and then later a takedown and two nearfall points to eventually earn an 8-5 win. 

However, Shippensburg was able to record their third pin of the night in the 184 pound bout, giving them a 24-11 advantage. 

Kris Rahn (Maple Shade, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) picked up his second pin of the season in 3:56 against Daniel Fultz. He opened the bout with a takedown and two nearfall points and held a 9-2 lead before the pin. 

Shippensburg added a 3-2 decision at heavyweight to finish off the scoring as the Raiders earned the 27-17 win.

The Golden Knights fell to 7-5 this season, while Shippensburg moved to 10-9 overall. Gannon will host Lake Erie next Wednesday, February 8 at the Hammermill Center. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
