ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon men's basketball team begins a two-game road swing Wednesday, February 8 at rival Edinboro. Game time at the McComb Fieldhouse is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The men's contest can be heard live locally on Jet Radio 1400.
Gannon (10-10, 8-8 PSAC) has dropped six of its last eight games to fall into seventh place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division. The Golden Knights are two games out of fourth place and the final playoff spot with six games remaining.
Adam Blazek leads the PSAC in free throw percentage (.878) and steals per game (2.7).
Darrell Blanton is the league's third-leading scorer with 18.7 points per game. He ranks third in field goal percentage, hitting 54.9 percent (152-277) of his attempts from the field.
Edinboro (11-9, 9-7) rides a two-game win streak into Wednesday's rivalry game after back-to-back road victories at California (Pa.) (65-62) and Lock Haven (68-66). Prior to their current success, the Fighting Scots had dropped a season-high four straight games. The streak included setbacks against Indiana (Pa.) (59-51), Slippery Rock (85-57), Mercyhurst (76-62) and Clarion (86-79).
Head coach Greg Walcavich's program leads the PSAC in blocked shots per game (4.7) and ranks third in scoring offense (78.5). Sophomore Bryan Theriot leads the league in field goal percentage, hitting 63.1 percent (99-157) of his shot attempts. He ranks fourth in rebounds per game (9.3) and sixth in points per game (18.0).
Edinboro has won four consecutive games against Gannon following its 76-72 victory at the Hammermill Center on January 11. The Fighting Scots still trail the all-time series 60-34, including a 21-23 mark during the all-time series at the McComb Fieldhouse.
