The Short Story: The Gannon acrobatics and tumbling team earned a split with Alderson Broaddus and Concordia (Wis.) Saturday evening at the Hammermill Center in tri-meet action. The Lady Knights captured a 258.895-233.325 victory over Concordia (Wis.), while falling to Alderson Broaddus, 267.435-258.895. Less than one point separated the Lady Knights from the Battlers in four of the six events.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Alderson Broaddus started out strong in the Compulsory event. After scoring a 9.25 in the first hear, the Battlers' next two scores were a perfect 10 resulting in a solid lead. At the conclusion of the opening event, AB earned a top score of 38.00 followed by Gannon with 33.50 points and Concordia (Wis.) with 31.25 points. The Lady Knights' best score of 9.90 came in the pyramid heat featuring freshman Kelsey LeClair (Temecula, Calif. / Temecula), junior Lindsey McKnight (Erie, Pa. / Mercyhurst Prep), freshman Michaela Soper (Fallston, Md. / Fallston), freshman Chelsea Cowan (Erie, Pa. / Mercyhurst Prep), freshman Devynn Shook (Wallingford, Conn. / Mark T. Following the Acro event, Alderson Broaddus pushed its total to 66.90 by taking all three heats. The Lady Knights were edged out by the Battlers by a margin of five-hundredths of a point, 9.90-9.85, in the six-element heat. AB won the event with a score of 28.90 followed by Gannon with 28.30 points and Concordia (Wis.) with 25.00 points.
 
To open the Pyramid event, Gannon and Alderson Broaddus shared scores of 9.80 in the flip heat. The team was comprised of Cowan, Mraz, Nejman, Grandinetti, Robinson, Beard, Martin and Soper. For the Lady Knights, it was their best score in the event. Alderson Broaddus won the event with a score of 29.65. Gannon scored a 29.20 and Concordia (Wis.) scored a 27.80.
 
Alderson Broaddus extended its lead to 96.55 in the Toss event. Gannon (91.00) continued to trail the Battlers by 5.55 points with Concordia (Wis.) in third (84.05).
 
Gannon captured two of the six heats in the Tumbling event. Nejman outscored her competitors in the six-element pass with a score of 9.050, the Lady Knights' top score in the event. Beard followed Nejman's performance by winning the open heat with a score of 8.925. Heading into the last event, Alderson Broaddus held its lead at 173.975 followed by Gannon in second (166.375) and Concordia (Wis.) in third (150.775).
 
Once again, Alderson Broaddus edged the competition in the Team event. The Battlers scored a total of 93.46 compared to the Lady Knights' total of 92.52. The Falcons finished third in the event with a score of 82.55. Alderson Broaddus managed to capture a sweep of both the Lady Knights and Falcons. GU earned a win over the Falcons and dropped its second loss to the Battlers this season.
 
The matchup was the first between Gannon and Concordia (Wis.) with the Lady Knights capturing the win. In the all-time series between Gannon and Alderson Broaddus, the series is tied at 2-2.
 
UP NEXT
After a stretch of three consecutive meets at the Hammermill Center, Gannon will travel to Adrian (Mich.) April 4. The dual meet will begin at 5 p.m.
