57-Yard Touchdown Run by Gannon's Jones Named Top NCAA Play of the Week (Video)

ERIE, Pa. - It was a run that had the standing-room-only Homecoming crowd buzzing and now the nation is talking about it. Gannon junior tailback Marc Jones (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside)' 57-yard touchdown that started with a spin move at the line was featured at No. 1 in this week's NCAA Plays of the Week released Wednesday afternoon.

Jones and his Gannon teammates have been listed among the NCAA Plays of the Week twice during the last three weeks. The nation's top five plays of this week can be view at http://www.ncaa.com/video/football/2017-10-10/dii-college-football-top-plays-week-six.

The video clip was part of another record-setting day that saw Jones tie a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record and break Gannon's program record with six rushing touchdowns. In all, he ran for 261 yards during a 47-25 victory against Edinboro last Saturday on Homecoming Weekend at McConnell Family Stadium. Jones also had two receptions for 22 yards en route to 283 all-purpose yards. He had another 40 receiving yards removed due to a holding penalty.

Jones finished the weekend as the top NCAA rusher regardless of division with 1,293 yards, holding a 53-yard lead over Stanford's Bryce Love. He produced his sixth consecutive 100-yard rushing performance and seventh in 17 games as a Golden Knight while becoming the first Gannon player in program history to open a season with six consecutive 100-yard games.

Gannon (2-4, 1-2) returns to action Saturday, October 14 at Seton Hill. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. The contest can be heard live on Jet Radio 1400.
