Gannon Men's Basketball Program Announces 2017 Recruiting Class

ERIE, Pa. - Gannon men's basketball head coach John T. Reilly has announced the program's 2017 recruiting class. The group of seven incoming student-athletes includes two freshmen, two sophomores, two juniors and one senior.

The newcomers include Sean Colosimo (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland), Matt Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson), Kofi Mills (Bronx, N.Y./Martin Van Buren), Cyril Ogbuagu (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist), Daryl Porter (Southfield, Mich./Walled Lake Western), Daniel Sapp (Streetsboro, Ohio/Streetsboro) and Devin Smith (Baltimore, Md./Newtown).

The 2017 recruiting class will join nine returners from last year's squad: junior Joe Fustine (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), senior Jair Green (Williamstown, N.J./Paul VI), redshirt junior Naseem Hadrab (Brampton, Ontario/22 Feet Academy), junior Mike Haysbert (Baltimore, Md./Western School of Technology and Environmental Science), senior Zay Jackson (Queens, N.Y./Westside), senior Damon Miraud (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth), junior Evan Phoenix (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) and senior Gerrell Williams (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview). In addition, redshirt sophomore Frank Webb Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Our Lady of Mount Carmel) returns after transferring to Gannon mid-season last year.

Gannon owns the 15th-highest all-time winning percentage (.638, 1232-699) in the history of NCAA Division II. The Golden Knights have qualified for 10 NCAA Division II Tournaments since 2000, pushing their all-time total of NCAA Tournament appearances to 24.

Reilly's squad concluded the 2016-17 campaign with an 18-10 overall record, falling to No. 5 Kutztown 91-85 in overtime during the PSAC semifinals. The Golden Knights played in the conference final four for the third time during the last four years.
