Gannon University Athletics

The Highmark Events Center, located on the campus of Gannon University, has been the home for Lady Knight volleyball teams since the program’s inception in 1974. The facility was originally known as the Gannon Auditorium, or affectionately referred to as “The Audi” by longtime Gannon faithful. The facility was rededicated and renamed the Hammermill Center in February 1983 in honor of the former Hammermill Paper Company, whose generosity enabled the University to make necessary repairs and improvements.

 In February 2022, the facility underwent another transformation into the Highmark Events Center, part of a multi-million dollar renovation plan to bring it in line with other state-of-the-art facilities.











The Highmark Events Center has a capacity of 2,800 with the building packed to the rafters throughout the year for various events. Gannon has won 69 percent (355-161) of its all-time volleyball contests at home, including an amazing 89-13 record (87 percent) from 1985-94. The Golden Knights have a superb 174-23 record (88 percent) at the venue since 2009 under Matt Darling, including an 89-9 mark (91 percent) over the past seven seasons. Gannon has posted four perfect home seasons – a 17-0 mark in 1992, a 9-0 record in 1986, an 11-0 mark in 2011, and a 6-0 record in 2020-21. The Golden Knights set a program record with 18 home wins in 2022, which included three wins on the way to claiming the PSAC Tournament championship and three victories in winning the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional title.

Through the years, Gannon faithful have been witness to some of the top volleyball talent in the country at the facility now called The Highmark Events Center.
