Cold weather did not stop the Lady Knights on their trip to Fairbanks, Alaska, for the North Star Invitational November 26-28. Despite sub-zero temperatures, Gannon went 3-0 and had the opportunity to dogsled while on their visit. The Knights set a school record with 20 three-pointers in a victory over Alaska-Fairbanks as Kristina Freeman was honored as the MVP of the event, with Carrie Nolan and Brittany Tabron joining her on the all-tournament team. Freeman scored 31 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the team’s double-overtime win over Henderson State.
The team were guests of the Broderick family in Fairbanks. The Brodericks served as host family for the event and the team enjoyed post-game snacks at their house. GU also traveled to North Pole, Alaska, and visited The Santa Claus House. The team saw moose and reindeer on the trip along with their dogsledding adventure. Despite limited light each day, the Lady Knights enjoyed their time in the Last Frontier.
